Hillside Work Scholarship Connection is a nationally-recognized youth development program helping at-risk youth stay in school and graduate from high school with the skills and confidence necessary to enter college or the workforce.
 
The Specialist II is responsible for the delivery and facilitation of academic, post-secondary planning and support, college, career, enrichment and employment programming and facilitation. The Specialist will be actively involved in relationship building, supporting Youth Advocate implementation of programming, and engaging youth in program services. The Specialist II further develops processes to support the program under the direction of Operations Management. This position may mentor a Specialist I level. This role takes on additional analysis activities to make recommendations based on the data. In this role, the specialist has a broader focus of services and is not limited to a specialty focus.
 
Essential functions of the Specialist II position include, but are not limited to:
  • Actively develops and maintains partner relationships with employers and community associations to engage in opportunities for HW-SC students such as job shadowing, internships, career speakers and pre-apprentice trade opportunities; with high school guidance counselors and higher education institutions to maintain knowledge and service expertise for students
  • Supports general oversight and actual implementation of career, post-secondary, academic and/or employment programming and facilitation. Responsible for fidelity of employment, career, post-secondary, academic, and enrichment programming.
  • Provides services to HW-SC students in collaboration with and as identified by Youth Advocates and Team Supervisors. Monitors placement and progress of participating students in partnership with YAs and Team Supervisors. Provides support services for HW-SC students who are preparing for the transition from high school to military, trade school, employment, college.

Associate’s Degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or other related field, plus 2-3 years of experience working with youth in a related field is required. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or other related field is preferred. Applicants must have a valid NYS driver's license, and must meet agency driving and insurance standards. Applicant must have reliable transportation on a daily basis.
